Winning American Idol doesn't prepare one for the kind of instant superstardom attention longtime musicians revel in - just ask David Cook, who recently asked "disturbed" fans to cool down a bit via his celebrity MySpace page. Titled "ATTENTION," the newest member of the AI club sent this out: "Hey everyone, first off, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been coming out to the shows since my last post.
The vibe at these shows has been amazing. Secondly, I have to address some behavior that has become disturbing. We pride ourselves on being accessible to you as fans, but in contrast, we do enjoy what little privacy we can muster. To that end, the efforts by some fans to find our hotel rooms, call our hotel rooms, attach things to our bus, etc. is something I have to condemn. This relationship only works when it remains healthy for both parties, and should this behavior continue, the only thing we can do is take more preventive measure to maintain our privacy, which in turn makes us less accessible to you."
In case he's forgotten, with his vocal capability and aesthetic demeanor, the rock star lifestyle is complete with horning fans and a 24 - entourage. Even so, if you're a David Cook fan and plan on attending his college campus tour with David Cook tickets, you've been ill - advised in becoming a full fledged groupie, yet if it wasn't for those obsessive fans, websites selling his tickets, Cook would be nowhere.
Honing his craft in front of millions during the live competition, Cook was eventually voted to the top spot of Fox's talent competition. "I went on Idol with a five card hand and showed three of my cards," Cooks says via his website. "Now it's time to put down the other two. There's a lot I haven't shown the world, just as far as who I am and what I'm about. I have several layers as an artist and those layers are out there on this record [David Cook]. I don't see myself every writing an autobiography; I'm just going to let me music speak for itself," he continued.
Droves of fans manage to come out in support of the artist who is currently supporting his first album in the headlining set, "The Declaration Tour," which kicked off February in Tallahassee, Florida and will continue through April in Tulsa, OK at the city's university. The Kansas City, Missouri boy hits up his home town April 22, a hometown show unlike few other, as it sold out in a mere six minutes. David Cook has already been certified platinum with just over a million copies sold, thanks to the husky voice and always gelled-do.
The season seven winner is currently promoting his self - titled debut, which surfaced in November just a week shy of coinciding with his main competitor during the several week competition, David Archuleta. The two artists, extremely different in their sound (Cook is rock, while Archuleta gears more toward the pop audiences) are reunited this May abroad for a concert in Manila.
